
To ensure that all resident rooms are free of fire, health and safety hazards, the facility has established guidelines on room configuration and the amount and size of furniture it can accommodate. The State of Michigan's Nursing Home Rules and Regulations require the facility to maintain adequate and proper space around the bed. To the extent possible, the facility will accommodate residents' personal belongings and furniture.
Items Permitted in Resident's Room
- The size of a personal television varies based on it's location in the facility; 1 North: not to exceed 13", 2 North: not to exceed 19", 1 and 2 South: not to exceed 25" if located above closet and not to exceed 13" if located on TV stand
- One TV stand to accommodate TV only if needed/necessary
- One fan that is a table top oscillating fan. No larger than 16"
- One standard size chair; straight/glider or recliner
- One dresser; size not to exceed 32" wide, 16" deep, and 48" tall
- One Telephone. Resident is responsible for connection and all costs and fees. Contact business office for details
- One Computer if space permits
- Electric razor

Items NOT Permitted in Resident's Room
- NO knick-knack shelves
- NO floor fans
- NO residential type extension cords (if needed, facility will provide heavy duty UL approved cords)
- NO foot stools unless medically necessary
- NO screws or nails of any type allowed in walls. (Bulletin boards are provided for each resident's personal use)
- NO refrigerators
Telephones
Pay phones are available on each floor for residents and visitors out-going calls. At each nurses' station there are portable phones for residents to receive telephone calls. On the first floor, there are two pay phones in the front lobby and one in the Resident/Visitor Lounge. On the second floor, there is a pay phone by the Therapy Department. If a resident would like a personal phone in his/her room, the resident or responsible party must contact the billing office for information.
The Restorative Nursing Department will evaluate the arrangement of the resident's beds to meet medical and resident equipment needs.
ALL ITEMS MUST BE IN GOOD REPAIR AND POSSESS NO HEALTH OR SAFETY HAZARDS. CLEANING OF ANY TYPE OF PERSONAL CLOTH CHAIR IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF RESIDENTS AND/FAMILIES.
