There are 35 dietary employees in the department with a combined total of over 200 years of experience at Suncrest. The department is headed by a Registered Dietetic Technician, a Certified Dietary Manager and a Food Production Supervisor. We have a Consultant Dietitian who visits at least once a week. The dietary staff, including excellent cooks, fantastic cook assistants and dietary aides, is responsible for preparing and serving three nutritious meals and nourishments for 202 resident on a daily basis.
They work with four four-week cycle menus, which include all the therapeutic and mechanically altered diets used in the facility. They also serve lunch for 50-55 children daily in child care and up to 150 employee meals in the cafeterias for lunch and dinner. The department prepares over 21,000 meals a month which means over 252,000 meals in a year.
Dietary Staff
We serve "Buffet Style" for lunch and dinner. The dietary staff brings all the needed food and supplies to each of four main dining rooms for the meal service. The nursing aides assist the residents with their meals which consist of their choice of two main entrees, homemade soups and desserts. The residents enjoy being served their meals with the hot foods coming directly from the steam table and cold items just out of the refrigerators. We also have family members dine with their loved ones on many days.
Special meals are provided for holidays, parties and special events. Some of these special events include an annual award banquet for employees, a volunteer luncheon and varied snacks during the many events during National Nursing Home Week. We also provide coffee carts for various staff meetings, family special needs and community organizations meetings.
Making dining fun and enjoyable for the residents is one of our goals along with meeting therapeutic and nutritional needs. Feel free to contact Catherine, Chris or Kathleen with any questions you may have concerning our resident's dietary needs.
